1. Acceptance of terms

By creating an account or using First Night, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the service.

2. Use of the service

First Night is a platform for logging, rating, and discussing theatre. You may use the service for personal, non-commercial purposes. You agree not to misuse the service, including but not limited to: spamming, impersonating others, or attempting to disrupt the platform.

3. User accounts

You are responsible for keeping your account credentials secure. You must provide accurate information when creating an account. We reserve the right to suspend or remove accounts that violate these terms.

4. User content

You retain ownership of the content you create on First Night (such as logs, ratings, and notes). By posting content, you grant First Night a licence to display it as part of the service. You are responsible for ensuring your content does not infringe on the rights of others and is not unlawful, abusive, or harmful.

If you tag someone as a companion on a log, you are responsible for the details you enter about them. Only add an email address for someone who would be happy for us to hold it. Our Privacy Policy explains what we do with it.

5. Intellectual property

The First Night name, logo, and platform design are the property of First Night. Show information is sourced from public databases and third-party providers. You may not reproduce or redistribute substantial portions of the platform's content without permission.

Posters and production images remain the property of their rights holders. Our image rights page explains where they come from and how to ask us to remove one.

6. Disclaimers and limitation of liability

First Night is provided “as is” without warranties of any kind. We do our best to keep information accurate and the service available, but we cannot guarantee uninterrupted access or that all show details are correct. To the fullest extent permitted by law, First Night is not liable for any indirect or consequential damages arising from your use of the service.

7. Termination

You can delete your account and its associated data at any time from the Danger zone in your settings, or by contacting us at hello@firstnight.io. We may also suspend or terminate accounts that breach these terms. On termination, your public content may be removed from the platform.

8. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales.
