What is First Night?

First Night is a social platform for theatre lovers. It's your theatre diary, and it doesn't start on the day you join: a show you saw fifteen years ago belongs in it just as much as the one you saw last night.

Alongside what you've seen, you keep the nights you're going to, the shows you'd like to see one day, and a feed of what everyone else is watching.

Think of it as Letterboxd, but for theatre. The West End is the heart of it, and the catalogue reaches out from there to the fringe, to opera, dance and ballet, and to the one-off nights that never make a listings site.

Who is it for?

Anyone who goes to the theatre. Whether you see one show a year or one a week, First Night helps you keep a record of what you've watched, share your thoughts, and find your next night out. If you've been going for years and never written any of it down, that's exactly what the diary is for.

What can you do?

Keep a diary of the shows you've seen, including ones from long before you joined

The watchlist is for someday; a plan is for a night you're actually going. When the date has passed, First Night asks how it was, so the plan becomes a diary entry.

Our vision

Theatre has an incredible community, but there's no good home for it online. First Night is building that home - a place where theatregoers can connect, share honest opinions, and help each other find shows worth seeing.

We started with London's West End and are expanding across the UK.
