Your online theatre diary
Every show you've seen, every night still to come, in one place.
First Night is a theatre diary for people who go to the theatre. Log the shows you see, rate them, remember where you saw them and who with, and look back on years of theatregoing. Think of it as Letterboxd for theatre. It's free.
What goes in a diary entry
Logging a show takes a few seconds. Fill in as much or as little as you like:
More than a list of shows
Start with the shows you've already seen
Your diary doesn't begin the day you join. Add a show from fifteen years ago as easily as last night's, one after another, at whatever precision you remember it.
Keep track of the nights you're going to
Plan a show with its date, the time and a note about who you're meeting. Once the night has passed, First Night asks whether you went, so the plan becomes a diary entry.
A watchlist for someday
Save the shows you'd like to see one day, with a note on why, without committing to a date.
Follow theatregoers, and the people on stage
Follow friends and other members to see what they're watching and what they thought. Follow cast and creatives too, and see their credits in one place.
Theatre by the venue
Every theatre in the catalogue has its own page: what's on now, what's coming up, and what has played there before.
Your month in theatre
At the end of each month, a recap of what you saw, which you can share as a card if you want to.
London first, the rest of the UK next
The West End is the heart of the catalogue, and it is growing out towards the fringe, opera, dance and theatre across the UK. Each show has its own page with its cast, creatives and what members thought of it. If something you saw isn't listed yet, add it as you log it.
Browse the shows, find a theatre, or look up the cast and creatives.
