Absolutely brilliant. Every performance felt completely on point, and the whole thing worked as a true ensemble piece. The recording-studio setting made it wonderfully claustrophobic, while the story captured the sex, drugs and rock ’n’ roll atmosphere of a band starting to fracture as their music evolved. The live music was incredible, with some amazing voices and a soundtrack I’ve listened to more than plenty of actual musical cast recordings. It never felt like a musical, just a play where the music was completely integral. I genuinely didn’t want it to end and would have gone straight back to see it again if it hadn’t closed that night.
