I first saw this show at the National Theatre many years ago when working as an usher and loved it instantly. Tim Crouch is one of the most exciting and inventive theatre makers around. We booked not knowing who the 'second actor' was going to be, and later found out it would be Sacha Dhawan. It's such a challenging role for an actor (not knowing the story or even what your lines will be!), and the nature of the show asks for you to be completely free and open. I felt he 'let go', to some extent, and there were many parts that were really raw and touching, but he also got in his head a little bit and started to overthink, which slowed the pace and the impact of the story. What's excellent about this piece of theatre is it's premise and that you could see a very different performance every night. Tim Crouch is always fascinating and it was amazing to see An Oak Tree again - so much so I am seeing another performance during this run!
