A Christmas Carol
It is Christmas Eve in 1843, Marley is dead, and for Ebenezer Scrooge the night has barely begun.
First Night is a theatre diary for logging the shows you've seen and discovering what to see next.
The story
Geoffrey Simon Brown's adaptation of the Charles Dickens story follows Ebenezer Scrooge as three spirits lead him through his past, his present and a future that may yet come to pass. Brown wrote it as a faithful retelling with a comic streak, and the version was first commissioned by Theatre Calgary in Canada.
In the room
An abridged, episodic telling built around Scrooge's visits from each of the three spirits in turn, keeping close to Dickens while finding the fun in it.
Good fit if you like
Victorian ghost stories, Christmas tales and stories about second chances.
