Adam Riches and John Kearns ARE 'Ball & Boe'
Two acclaimed comedians decide the obvious next career move is to become Michael Ball and Alfie Boe.
First Night is a theatre diary for logging the shows you've seen and discovering what to see next.
The story
Adam Riches and John Kearns form an unlikely double act to play exaggerated versions of singers Michael Ball and Alfie Boe. Framed around preparations for their next big arena show, the comedy mixes character work, songs and knowingly overblown showbusiness as the pair explore what makes a successful partnership tick.
In the room
An hour of committed silliness, deliberately ropey grandeur and two very different comic performers attempting the polished chemistry of an arena-filling musical duo. There are songs and plenty of Ball and Boe references, but the central joke is the relationship between the two men, so detailed knowledge of the real singers isn't required.
Good fit if you like
character comedy, affectionate parody, ridiculous showbusiness personas and mismatched double acts.
