Archduke

Belgrade, 1914. Three young men are offered food and recruited to assassinate Archduke Franz Ferdinand, a mission that could alter the course of the century. Rajiv Joseph’s play approaches the men behind the historical event as reluctant radicals, caught between hunger, ideology and the machinery of political violence.

The play treats a major historical turning point with an intentionally loose relationship to strict accuracy, balancing dark comedy with the human vulnerability of its would-be assassins.
