The story
Princeton arrives on Avenue Q with a degree, little money and no clear purpose, joining neighbours whose jobs, relationships and ambitions are equally unstable. Puppets and human characters share the street as the residents navigate sex, unemployment, prejudice and the gap between childhood promises and adult reality.
In the room
The musical uses bright educational-song formats, direct audience address and visible puppeteers to deliver adult comedy about subjects including racism, sexuality and internet pornography.
Good fit if you like
puppet theatre, adult satire, songs about everyday anxieties and messy early adulthood.
