The story
In the small town of Hope Falls, the sheriff hands the feral discovery to the local vet's family, where Meredith Parker names him Edgar and teaches him to speak, read and mind his manners, and her daughter Shelley grows close to him. Edgar longs to be accepted, but the God-fearing townsfolk, blaming him for their dying cattle, want him gone, and Dr Parker turns against him.
In the room
A darkly comic horror musical inspired by a tabloid cover story, with a pastiche score that runs from rock and a gospel revival meeting to country and ballads, and an ensemble doubling the townsfolk.
