The story
Lydia, a teenager mourning her mother, moves into a house already occupied by the ghosts of its former owners. When the dead couple struggle to frighten Lydia's family away, they turn to Beetlejuice, a manipulative bio-exorcist who sees Lydia as his route back into the world of the living.

The musical mixes horror comedy, self-aware narration and a rock-inflected score, using ghosts and supernatural rules to frame a story about grief, family neglect and belonging.
