A young sculptor borrows his neighbour's antiques to impress important guests, only for a blackout to make hiding the deception much harder.

First Night is a theatre diary for logging the shows you've seen and discovering what to see next.

Comedy
The story

Brindsley Miller and his fiancée Carol have filled their home with expensive antiques borrowed from an absent neighbour, hoping to impress Carol's father and a wealthy art buyer. Then a fuse blows. As visitors arrive in the darkness and Brindsley's former mistress reappears, keeping the borrowed possessions and his other secrets under control becomes increasingly difficult.

In the room

A one-act farce built around a reversed-lighting conceit: the audience can see the characters when the characters are supposed to be in darkness.

Good fit if you like

farce, escalating deception, visual comic conceits and social situations that become harder to control by the minute.
