The story
A stage musical based on Steven Antin’s 2010 film, with Antin writing the book and Christina Aguilera serving as executive producer. The score combines songs by Aguilera, Sia and Diane Warren with additional material by Todrick Hall and Jess Folley, following Ali as she becomes part of the club’s makeshift family of performers, dreamers and schemers.
In the room
A glossy, high-energy musical built around big vocals, dance and the backstage world of the club. Beneath the spectacle is a story about Ali searching for where she comes from, finding confidence in her own talent and forming new relationships as she works out where she belongs.
Good fit if you like
contemporary pop musicals, big dance numbers, backstage stories, romantic complications and feel-good shows about finding confidence and a community of your own.
