The Jellicle cats assemble for their annual ball, introducing themselves through songs, dances and stories before their leader Old Deuteronomy makes the Jellicle choice. Each cat presents a distinct personality and history while waiting to learn who will ascend to the Heaviside Layer and return to a new life.
This sung-through musical is structured as a sequence of character portraits adapted from poetry, with recurring ensemble rituals connecting contrasting musical and dance styles.
