Complicité
Two strangers collide during a lonely night of protest in central London.
First Night is a theatre diary for logging the shows you've seen and discovering what to see next.
The story
Finn Lanchester’s contemporary two-hander brings together Simon, a teacher chained to a tree for a climate protest, and Benoit, an oil-drilling engineer looking for escape.
In the room
A fast-moving clash of personality, ideology and culture, travelling through protest, dating apps, primate psychology and fears about the end of the world.
Good fit if you like
You enjoy energetic new writing, dark comedy and character-led arguments about the world we are making.
