Garry Starr attempts to save literature by performing the Penguin Classics at breakneck speed... in flippers.
Damien Warren-Smith’s one-man clown show takes on a succession of famous books, from The Little Prince to Moby-Dick, reducing each one to an increasingly ridiculous theatrical interpretation. The conceit is that Starr is single-handedly trying to stop books becoming extinct.
Physical comedy, literary parody, audience interaction and deliberately foolish theatrical inventions packed into about 70 minutes. It is much closer to clowning and absurdist live comedy than conventional stand-up.
