The story
Alexander Hamilton rises from an orphaned Caribbean childhood to become George Washington's aide, a revolutionary fighter and a central architect of the new United States. His hunger to act and to leave a written legacy drives his political battles, marriage and long rivalry with Aaron Burr, whose caution increasingly clashes with Hamilton's urgency.
In the room
The story is largely sung and rapped through, using hip-hop, R&B, soul and show-tune forms to turn cabinet arguments, private letters and political conflict into musical contests.
Good fit if you like
political rivalries, rapid wordplay, hip-hop storytelling and history centred on personal ambition.
