Drama
The story

Set in a 1970s commune, the play recasts Hamlet as the daughter of a leader whose death appears suspicious. She sets out to avenge him while life inside The Family becomes increasingly controlled by its Divine leader, exposing the gap between the commune's utopian image and the restrictions placed on its predominantly female members.

In the room

A reimagining of Hamlet centred on women, cult dynamics and patriarchal control, relocating the revenge story to a 1970s commune.

Good fit if you like

radical Shakespeare retellings, cult settings, female-centred drama and stories about power disguised as liberation.
