Harry Potter and the Cursed Child
Two sons inherit famous names and dangerous unfinished histories.
First Night is a theatre diary for logging the shows you've seen and discovering what to see next.
The story
Nineteen years after the earlier story, Harry Potter is a government official and father whose son Albus feels crushed by his family legacy. Sorted into Slytherin, Albus forms a friendship with Scorpius Malfoy, and their attempt to change the past creates consequences that place both families under strain.
In the room
The story uses time travel, parallel versions of familiar events and intergenerational conflict, with stage illusion central to presenting spells, transformations and sudden shifts of place.
Good fit if you like
time-travel plots, complicated father-son relationships, school friendships and stage illusion.
