The story

Joseph, one of Jacob's twelve sons, is resented by his brothers for his dreams and the special coat given to him by their father. Sold into slavery and taken to Egypt, his ability to interpret dreams gives him an unexpected path through imprisonment towards influence, while famine eventually reconnects him with his family.

In the room

The biblical story is sung through in a sequence of playful musical pastiches, shifting between pop, country, calypso, rock and French chanson while a narrator guides the action.
