Maybe Happy Ending
In a Seoul apartment block for outdated helper robots, Oliver tends his plant and his jazz records, until the robot next door knocks to borrow his charger.
First Night is a theatre diary for logging the shows you've seen and discovering what to see next.
The story
Oliver is a retired HelperBot living alone in a housing complex for obsolete robots on the edge of Seoul, certain that his former owner James will one day come back for him. When his neighbour Claire, another helper robot, turns up needing a charger, a grudging acquaintance becomes a road trip towards Jeju Island, and an unexpected romance between two machines begins.
In the room
A small-scale chamber musical that moves from light comedy into bittersweet romance, with a jazz-inflected score, threaded with the 1940s crooner records Oliver plays.
Good fit if you like
gentle science fiction, slow-burning romance, road-trip stories and jazz-tinged chamber scores.
