A grieving village must decide how tragedy should be remembered.

First Night is a theatre diary for logging the shows you've seen and discovering what to see next.

Drama
The story

A Welsh farming community gathers in its village hall to debate a proposed memorial after a tragedy has divided local people. With public attention fixed on them, neighbours must decide what should be commemorated, whose account matters and what their vote will say about the community’s future.

In the room

The audience is placed inside the village meeting and every vote counts, making the politics of remembrance part of a live communal decision rather than a distant debate.

Good fit if you like

participatory theatre, village politics, moral debate and stories about collective memory.
