The story
Beatrice and Benedick insist they cannot stand one another, while their friends quietly plot to make each believe the other is secretly in love. Alongside their comic battle, the younger lovers Claudio and Hero face a far more damaging deception that turns a wedding celebration into a public crisis.
In the room
The comedy pairs rapid verbal sparring with romantic plotting, mistaken evidence and a darker strand about reputation, jealousy and the ease with which trust can be manipulated.
Good fit if you like
witty rivals, romantic misunderstandings, elaborate schemes and comedies with a darker edge.
