Mary Todd Lincoln is reimagined as a foul-tempered, heavy-drinking would-be cabaret star trapped in the White House while her husband attends to the Civil War. Her thwarted theatrical ambitions, unhappy marriage and consuming self-absorption drive a deliberately inaccurate version of history in which personal melodrama overwhelms national crisis.
Cole Escola's one-act comedy uses farce, drag, period melodrama and blunt modern language, treating historical figures as vehicles for escalating absurdity rather than sober biography.
