Plied & Prejudice
Elizabeth Bennet and Mr Darcy's story is retold as one rowdy, drink-fuelled night at his ball at Pemberley, with five actors playing twenty characters.
First Night is a theatre diary for logging the shows you've seen and discovering what to see next.
The story
Matthew Semple's comic parody of Jane Austen's Pride and Prejudice squeezes the novel into a single party that is part performance and part night out. Proposals, elopements and a wet T-shirt contest all unfold on Pemberley's ballroom floor, Wickham and Mr Collins are recast as recognisably awful modern men, and audience members are drawn in for dance lessons and proposals.
In the room
Broad, booze-fuelled farce with live music, played in traverse with the audience facing each other across a chequered dancefloor. It is strictly for over-18s.
Good fit if you like
period romance played for laughs, rowdy audience participation and comedy that doubles as a night out.
