The story
Chris D'Arienzo's musical follows Drew, a busboy at the Bourbon Room rock club, and Sherrie, newly arrived to chase an acting career, whose romance trips over misunderstandings and the arrival of the arrogant rock star Stacee Jaxx. Meanwhile a German developer and his timid son plan to flatten the Strip, club and all, and the regulars join a protest to save it.
In the room
Built entirely from 1980s rock and hair-metal hits, often mashed together, with a live onstage band and a narrator, the club's sound man Lonny, who mocks the show and its musical-theatre conventions as it goes.
Good fit if you like
1980s rock anthems, self-aware parody and big, broad comedy.
