The story
In Shakespeare's tragedy, Romeo Montague and Juliet Capulet meet at a party and fall in love before discovering that their families are enemies. Determined to be together, they marry in secret, with help from people they trust. But the feud between the Montagues and Capulets continues to spill into the streets of Verona, and the violence ultimately forces Romeo into exile.
In the room
Private vows and public quarrels move alongside each other, with moments of youthful excitement giving way to danger. Shakespeare places the lovers against a community where family loyalty and honour carry terrible consequences.
Good fit if you like
forbidden romance, family rivalries and tragedies driven by choices made in haste.
