HistoryDrama

The story

A new play by Gail Louw, written in collaboration with Brad Borkan, about the 1910–1913 Terra Nova Expedition to the South Pole. Cherry-Garrard, now in his late fifties, looks back on the midwinter trek to Cape Crozier to collect Emperor penguin eggs, the friendships that carried the team, and the deaths of Captain Scott and his polar party. It draws on his memoir The Worst Journey in the World.

In the room

An intimate world premiere that sets the young, cheerful explorer beside the older man living with survivor's guilt, with humour alongside the hardship.

Good fit if you like

true stories of exploration, polar history, and plays about memory and guilt.
