Satire
The story

Hannah Arendt, artist Charlotte Salomon and schoolgirl Eva Daube are detained in France and transported to Camp Gurs after being branded undesirable. With German forces advancing, each faces the same brutal uncertainty: remain imprisoned and hope circumstances change, or attempt an escape into an equally dangerous future. The play draws on archival research and testimony to place exile, state power and survival inside one historical moment.

In the room

Satire, physical theatre and cabaret sit alongside documentary material, using three women’s experiences to examine imprisonment, displacement and the choices forced by approaching war.

Good fit if you like

political history, archival theatre, women’s stories and drama about survival under state persecution.
