Simon Stephens adapts Mark Haddon's novel into a play about Chris Boone, a teenager with an exceptional mind for numbers who sets out to solve the death of Wellington, a neighbour's dog. Following the clues draws Chris into family secrets and eventually towards a journey that tests trust, independence and the boundaries of a carefully ordered world.
A mystery and family drama told through highly theatrical staging rather than a conventional detective story. The play moves between Chris's investigation, home life and encounters with an unpredictable outside world, using movement, sound and visual design to turn patterns, information and sensory experience into part of the storytelling.
