The Devil Wears Prada
An aspiring journalist enters fashion's most unforgiving office.
First Night is a theatre diary for logging the shows you've seen and discovering what to see next.
The story
Fresh from college, Andy Sachs takes a job at Runway magazine as assistant to editor-in-chief Miranda Priestly, one of fashion's most feared and influential figures. Meeting Miranda's impossible demands opens doors Andy never expected, but the glamour and professional access come at the expense of her relationships and force her to decide what success is worth.
In the room
The musical moves between workplace comedy, fashion-world satire and Andy's changing private life, with a contemporary pop score giving the Runway office its own competitive pulse.
Good fit if you like
workplace satire, fashion culture, ambitious young protagonists and moral compromises.
