Based on accounts of the Enfield poltergeist, the play follows the Hodgson family in their north London council house after furniture and toys begin moving by themselves. It focuses on one night in spring 1978, when the disturbances are nearing a climax and a dedicated single mother is trying to protect her three children from something they cannot understand.
