At an isolated English house, a governess comes to believe that something supernatural is threatening the two children in her care.

First Night is a theatre diary for logging the shows you've seen and discovering what to see next.

Thriller
The story

A young governess arrives at an isolated English house to care for two children, but their behaviour begins to suggest that something darker is present. Determined to protect them, she becomes increasingly consumed by the possibility of supernatural danger, while the story keeps open a more troubling alternative: that the threat may lie in her own perception.

In the room

Psychological suspense built around uncertainty, with the story repeatedly unsettling the boundary between an external supernatural threat and the governess’s own increasingly fearful perception.

Good fit if you like

haunted houses, ambiguous supernatural threats, psychological tension and unreliable perception.
