The story
Shakespeare's tragedy follows Titus Andronicus, a Roman commander returning from war with Tamora, queen of the Goths, among his captives. Titus orders the sacrifice of one of her sons, and Tamora seeks revenge. As political loyalties shift in Rome, Aaron's schemes deepen the hostility between the households, drawing more people into a cycle of retribution.
In the room
Violence is central to this tragedy, where successive acts of revenge bring suffering to people far beyond the original dispute. The drama is concerned with family loyalty, political authority and the escalating cost of retaliation.
Good fit if you like
