The story

At the Midnight Bell pub, Bob dreams of becoming a writer while Ella, the barmaid, longs to be with him. Bob instead becomes fixated on Jenny Maple and spends his savings trying to rescue her, drawing all three lonely Londoners into a knot of desire, money and misplaced hope.
