Beth and Emma Kilcoyne adapt Victoria Wood's television comedy for the stage, bringing Bren, Tony, Dolly, Jean, Twinkle, Anita, Stan and the rest of the canteen crew back together. Commissioned by the Victoria Wood Estate, it uses the familiar characters and world of the original series to tell a new story.
A workplace comedy built around Victoria Wood's sharply observed characters, quick exchanges and the small dramas of life in a Manchester factory canteen. Sean Foley directs a new stage version designed to retain the warmth and humour of the television series rather than simply recreate an episode on stage.
British character comedy, workplace ensembles, affectionate stories about ordinary lives and humour built from friendships, gossip and the absurdities of the working day.
