The story
Nassim Soleimanpour wrote this experimental play while he was forbidden to leave Iran. At every performance, a different actor encounters the script for the first time, without rehearsing it in advance or receiving direction. The work uses that unfamiliar encounter to examine obedience, power and the relationship between a performer and the people watching.
In the room
The changing reader is part of the form, so each performance begins without a rehearsed interpretation. Uncertainty is central, but the particular events inside the script are best left undisclosed.
Good fit if you like
experimental theatre, unpredictable encounters and questions about authority and participation.
